Asa Germann has been chosen to play Angel in the MCU's 'X-MEN'

The reboot of X-Men of Marvel Studios found a new member of its main cast.

According to THR reports, Asa Germann (Gen V, Scream 7) is in final talks to take on the role as Warren Worthington III aka Angel.

Interestingly, Germann auditioned to land the role as Cyclops, which was ultimately taken on by Kit Connor, however, the studio was so impressed with Germann that they offered him to come on board as Angel.

The character, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was introduced in the first issue of X-Men in 1963. Among its attributes are feathered wings on its back that give it the ability to fly. At one point in his story, Angel suffered serious damage and the villain Apocalypse replaced his wings with metallic ones capable of firing projectiles.

The character previously appeared twice on the big screen. Ben Foster played him in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), while Ben Hardy did it in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).

Germann joins a cast that already has Sadie Sink confirmed as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving like Emma Frost, Kit Connor like Cyclops, Christopher Abbott like Professor X, Inde Navarrete like Rogue, Maya Bond like Storm, and Adam Driver as the villain Mr. Sinister.

The restart of X-Men will be directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*, Beef). The script is co-written by Lee Sung Jin (Beef), Michael Lesslie (Now You See Me 3, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping) y Joanna Calo (Thunderbolts*, The Bear).

The reboot will mark the first solo film for X-Men under the Disney label, owner of Marvel Studios, which in 2019 acquired 21st Century Fox, and with it, the rights to integrate the Marvel heroes that it had licensed to Fox.

Mutant characters have already begun to appear in the MCU, in films like Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), the 2025 reboot, The Fantastic Four: First Stepsand this year's box office hit, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

To Avengers: Doomsdaythe appearances of some mutants from the 20th Century Fox films of the 2000s are already confirmed. Among them, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden and Rebecca Romjin reprising their roles as Magneto, Professor X, Cyclops and Mystique. They will join the Avengers and heroes from different universes to defeat the all-powerful Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).

After DoomsdayMarvel is expected to reboot the mutant team with a younger cast.
