Bong joon ho Return to the big screen in a few more weeks with the launch of the science fiction thriller Mickey 17his first film from the overwhelming and historical success of the Oscarized Parasite (2019).

The director is in full promotion of Mickey 17and it was in one of those interviews with MBC Korea (via Fangoria) that said feeling Ready to return to horror movies.

Currently, the Oscar winner continues to work in a computer animated feature film (CGI) on creatures of marine depths whose underwater oasis is threatened. The production began in the summer of 2024, and Bong was responsible for drawing by hand the graphic scripts of the entire film. Sony Pictures will be the distributor.

At the end of this commitment, Bong already has plans of a next feature film now in Live-Action format: A Korean film with unique elements of action and terror set in the Seoul Metro, South Korea.

Bong told the source that the film:

“It's like my life project. I've been thinking about it since 2001. “

After they asked him to describe the first 90 seconds of the film, the director said:

We are running through the underground section of the Metro. In the next car, people who wear similar clothes begin to approach us. We are running. Many people begin to approach us. ”

Bong's origins in horror movies date back to The Host o The guest of the year 2006. The film is starring Song Kang-ho, Go Ah-Sung and Bae Doona, as members of a family destroyed by a giant mutant beast that emerges from the Han River.

Other Bong projects include Parasite, Snowpiercer, Okjay Madeo. Bong's style places it as one of the most effective filmmakers in not only mixing genres, but also making incredibly effective films when achieving atmosphere in singular locations.

In what arises more information about this project, we will have the premiere of Mickey 17 in cinemas on March 6, 2025.
