This chicken stroganoff delivers juicy chicken, earthy mushrooms, and a velvety sauce with just the right tang. Served over pasta or rice, it’s a crowd-pleasing meal that tastes like comfort food done right.

Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) chicken breast, sliced into strips

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 250 g (9 oz) mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: paprika or parsley for garnish

Directions

  • Heat oil or butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Add chicken strips, season with salt and pepper, and cook until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms release moisture and brown slightly.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Slowly pour in chicken broth, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  • Reduce heat and stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard.
  • Return chicken to the pan and simmer gently for 5 minutes until fully cooked and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish if desired and serve hot.
