Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios' negotiations with Dave Bautista They had a happy ending, well The actor has already closed an agreement to join the live-action series God of War in it leading role as Kratos (via Deadline).
The studios took on the task of finding a high-profile actor to play the role after Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, The Odyssey), who was already in the fourth month of filming the series, suffered a torn bicep during a stunt on set in late June. The injury required surgery and a long recovery, and after a pause in production, the studios decided to recast the role.
Pre-production is expected to begin again shortly, with filming to resume in mid-October in Vancouver, CA. It will start from scratchsince material from the original filming is not being used.
The Emmy winner, Frederik E.O. Toye (The Boys, Shogun, Fallout) who directed the first two episodes starring Hurst, will do the same in the first two episodes now with Bautista.
Prime Video has ordered two seasons, which will be filmed consecutively.
The expectation is that Bautista's long career as a professional wrestler will allow him to take on the physically demanding role without any inconvenience.
This marks just the second regular role for Bautista, after appearing in the second season of See from Apple TV. His upcoming film projects include the reboot of Highlanderthe action sequel Road House 2the science fiction comedy Alpha Gangand the animated film Ally.

Bautista plays Kratos with Callum Vinson (Crystal Lake, Long Bright River) as Atreus, the young god son of Kratos.

Louis Cunningham (Marie Antoinette), Island Austin (Insidious 6), Ben Chapple (Good Cop Bad Cop) y Evelyn Miller (Foundation) are also part of the cast.
