The phenomenon series that took over the small screen in every corner of the world upon its premiere on Netflix in 2021, Squid Gamereturns in 2024 with a second season.
The streamer has just debuted a reel that offers the first looks at the highest-profile series and movies, which will premiere on the platform this year. Among them we see Squid Game. The platform also shared some official images, focused on the protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), and the Recruiter (Gong Yoo), as well as a new character played by Park Gyu-young.
The glimpse included in the reel apparently is a scene that begins just after the final shot of the first season of The squid game.
You will find the material at the end of the note.
Hwang Dong-hyukcreator of Squid Gamepreviously spoke about his plans for season two:
“I've seen a lot of people's reactions to the series, but I don't want to do the second season as a response to those reactions. The philosophies I put into the first season naturally extend to the second season. Instead of trying to meet the viewers' expectations, I just thought about the last moment when Gi-hun turned around before boarding the plane, and thought about what she will do next.”
“Naturally, there will be a flow of events leading up to the end of the season. I can't share any details yet, but you know that Seong Gi-hun has become a totally new person at the end of the first season, so the second season will be about what that new Gi-hun is going to do and how the “Things will develop with this new type of character.”
Netflix greenlit a second season in 2022.
At the moment, the streaming service has not revealed the exact date of the premiere of season 2 of Squid Game.
