Obsession stalks the Oscar Award 2027.

Focus Features will campaign for the Oscar in different categories with its original project Obsessionthe horror hit of 2026, according to reports from Variety.

The studio will seek to land nominations in all categories in which the film can compete, highlighting the possibility of Inside Navarrette for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Navarrete will campaign in this category during the next awards season. The young actress rose to fame this year with her convincing performance as Nikki in Obsession from the screenwriter and director Curry Barker.

Presumably Navarrete will be the compass that will spin the Focus Features campaign to Obsessionsince the actress has become one of the most talked about topics of the horror hit with her breakthrough performance, which already has her own intervention in Halloween Horror Nights. The Halloween event is hosted by Universal Studios Hollywood each year, taking place during select nights from September 3 to November 1, 2026. One of the guests at the party in 2026 is Freaky Nikki (she is not portrayed by the actress, but by someone else).

On top of that, Navarrete landed the role as Rogue in the reboot of X-Men which Marvel Studios is already preparing, as part of the integration of mutants into the MCU.

Along with Navarrette, Focus Features plans to push Barker as the unusual so-called “triple threat” in the film categories. best direction, original screenplay and editing. At the 2025 Oscar ceremony, Sean Barker triumphed in these same three categories with Anora (2024), which at the end of the night also won the award for best film (an award that he also shared as a producer).

It remains to be seen if the studio will choose to campaign to the Golden Globes under the drama category or the musical or comedy category. Contrary to what many might think, it is the studio that decides in which category their project will be considered for the Golden Globes, not the Hollywood Foreign Press organization (HFPA) itself.
