Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix will play Ed and Lorraine Warren in 'The Conjuring' prequel

With filming now underway, the prequel to the universe of The spell of New Line Cinema y Warner Bros., announces the signing of its protagonists.

According to exclusive reports from DreadCentral, Garrett Wareing (The Long Walk) y Amanda Fix (Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) will be the protagonists of The Conjuring: First Communionplaying the younger versions of Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren, respectively.

It is not clear if Patrick Wilson y Vera Farmiga would reprise their roles in the more adult versions of the demonologists, whom they have played since 2013, in the three direct sequels of The Conjuringand the spinoff Annabelle Comes Home.

With plot details kept secret, this next chapter is expected to pick up the pieces and focus on the Warrens' early years.

The prequel is directed by Rodrigue Huartwith a script written by Richard Naing e Ian Goldberghorror franchise veterans who co-wrote Last Rites and the spinoff The Nun II.

It marks Huart's debut as a feature film director. Its short Transylvaniawon the 2024 SXSW Festival Jury Prize.

The Conjuring: First Communion is the eleventh installment of the Universe The Conjuring. The sequel to 2025, The Conjuring: Last Rites, was crowned the highest-grossing installment of the saga with more than $480 million dollars at the global box office, also extending the dominance of the Universe The Conjuring like the highest grossing horror franchise of all timewith a combined global box office of more than $2.5 billion.

James Wan go on closely linked as producer through his company, Atomic Monster. Wan was in contractual negotiations with Warner Bros., to receive the corresponding credit and a participation in future projects, and after reaching an agreement, his participation in The Conjuring Universe was secured.

Wan created the franchise, directed the first two installments of The spelland has produced the saga with Peter Safran.

In addition to this new prequel, a television series with a house in HBO Maxwhich in September 2025 announced the signing of Nancy Won as screenwriter, executive producer, and showrunner, and Peter Cameron y Cameron Squires as screenwriters. The plot “will continue the story established in the feature films.”

Additionally, there is ongoing The Revenge of La Lloronasequel to The Curse of La Llorona (2019), with a theatrical release date scheduled for April 9, 2027.

The prequel The Conjuring: First Communion will be released in theaters on September 10, 2027.
