'Happy Death Day 3' — Jessica Rothe reveals that there is already a story ready waiting for financing from Blumhouse

After a long time without news about the highly anticipated Happy Death Day 3its protagonist, Jessica Rothe offers an important advance.

Speaking to Deadline, Rothe assures that the story is ready and they are only waiting for financing from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures to start production on the third installment of the slasher franchise. Happy Death Day of the filmmaker Christopher Landon:

“Chris Landon and I have already developed the entire plotwhich was a lot of fun. We went to a place I won't reveal—a Le Pain Quotidien halfway between our houses—and we sat there for hours and we structured the third film. And now, we're just waiting for Universal and Blumhouse to give us some money. This is a Deadline exclusive. “They heard it here first.”

Earlier this year, Rothe mentioned that she and Landon, “We're determined to do the heavy lifting on our end — in terms of developing the project and getting it to the point it needs to be — so that the studio has no doubts about it. Chris is firmly convinced, and I agree with him, that he has come up with an incredible trilogy closer, a way to wrap up the films perfectly.”

ABOUT THE FRANCHISE HAPPY DEATH DAY

Happy Death Day (2017) sigue a Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) who relives the same day over and over again – Groundhog Day– day in which she is murdered in absurdly funny ways. Tree is murdered by an unknown masked man.

The plot of the sequel, Happy Death Day 2U (2019) revealed that what Tree experiences is caused by an experimental quantum reactor, and its climax led to a twist in the narrative involving a secret government agency called DARPA.
