Maggie Gyllenhaal is the director, screenwriter and producer of The Bride!, a new version of the classic The Bride of Frankensteinwhich will mark his second project behind the lens.

With filming underway it is confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal (Road House, Nightcrawler) Maggie's brother, will have a role in the horror film. THR does not reveal what role he will play, but does announce the actor's participation as follows:

“Jake's childhood admiration for Maggie has developed into a mutual 'with you to death' relationship as adults, and he has a role in her film Bride of Frankenstein.”

“When he hosted SNL In May, Jake was wearing a black T-shirt that said “The Bride & Frank,” in reference to his movie.

Gyllenhaal joins a talented cast led by Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari, The Dark Knight) like Frankenstein's Monster, Jessie Buckley (Men, I’m Thinking of Ending Things) as The Bride, Penelope Cruz (Ferrari, Vicky Cristina Barcelona) like Myrna, and Peter Sarsgaard (Memory, The Batman) as the detective, in addition to Annette Bening (Nyad), y Julianne Hough (Safe Haven, Rock of Ages).

  • Buckley starred in Gyllenhaal's first feature film as a director, The Lost Daughter (2021).

Warner Bros. The film will be released in theaters on October 3, 2025.including functions in IMAX.

Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman-Keren produce alongside Gyllenhaal.

The original film by director James Whale was released in 1935. In recent times there have been several plans to launch a remake of Bride of Frankenstein. We remember Universal Pictures' failed Dark Universe, as well as Bride from A24 and Apple, with Scarlett Johansson, about which there has been no further news. On the other hand, Guillermo del Toro is working on a project about Frankenstein at home on Netflix.
