20th Century Studios continues to prepare audiences for the theatrical release of a new installment of Planet of the Apes, titled in its original language as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

This film directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner), is a continuation of the acclaimed Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, y War for the Planet of the Apes, which doesn't focus on Caesar (Andy Serkis). The character died at the end of War for the Planet of the Apes. But the story continues to move forward.

The new delivery, which in our country is known as Planet of the Apes: New Kingdom, is the starting engine of a new trilogy, which places its plot 300 years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes.

Taking into consideration Caesar's legacy and the meaning of “stronger together apes,” the plot now focuses on Noa, the new young hero of the kingdom of the planet of the apes, played in mo-cap by Owen Teague (IT).

The script was written by Patrick Aison (Prey, Wayward Pines), Josh Friedman (Foundation, Snowpiercer, Avatar: The Way of Water, War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), y Amanda Silver (Avatar: The Way of Water, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

The rest of the cast is made up of Freya Allan (The Witcher), Dichen Lachman (Severance, Animal Kingdom), William H. Macy (Shameless, Fargo, The Dropout), Peter Macon (The Orville, Shameless), y Sara Wiseman (Shortland Street).

Ball previously told Empire Magazine that his idea for what a new movie could be. Planet of the Apessummarized it as “Apocalpyto with apes”. Apocalypto is Mel Gibson's acclaimed 2006 film, applauded for its fast-paced action and moving story, about a fierce journey through a dangerous jungle in the early 16th century Yucatan.

20th Century Studios will release Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in cinemas May 10, 2024
