In September of this year we will have the grand theatrical release of one of the most anticipated films of the year: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (before Beetlejuice 2), sequel to the 1988 cult classic Tim Burtonwho returns to direct this new installment that features the return of its protagonists Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Haray Winona Ryder.

It is precisely Keaton, who once again speaks out about the anticipated sequel, where he will reprise his iconic role as Beetlejuice. In an interview with SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, the actor revealed that he had seen the first cut of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice:

I already saw it. I'll be watching it again after a couple of minor tweaks in the editing room, and I can confidently say it's great. “The [película original] It was very fun and visually exciting. [La secuela es] all that, but really beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there. He wasn't prepared for that. It's great.”

Keaton went on to talk about the original film, saying:

“It's like a work of art, you know what I mean? It's almost like you want to take it and put it in a museum. There is simply nothing like it. I guess doing it again was a little intimidating, and I was nervous about it. He wanted to do it a long time ago. I thought maybe we should try it again, but then the idea died and no one seemed excited about it. “Then he started coming back and I got excited.”

In Beetlejuice BeetlejuiceIn addition to the return of the members of the original cast, there are new additions such as Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream VI), Justin Theroux (The Leftovers, The Mosquito Coast), Monica Bellucci (Malena, Mafia Mom), y Willem Dafoe (Poor Things, The Northman).

Ortega plays the daughter of Ryder's Lydia Deetz, Bellucci plays Beetlejuice's wife, and Dafoe plays a B-list action star, who after his death, becomes a police officer or a supernatural detective.

Danny Elfman He also returns as composer of the original soundtrack.

Burton directs from a script by Mike Vukadinovich, with drafts by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg. Burton, Katzenberg, and Grahame-Smith produce the feature.

Not much is known about the plot at the moment, except that Beetlejuice will return to cause more fun problems, and that it is a direct sequel to the original classic.

Beetlejuice followed the spirits of a deceased couple who are harassed by an unbearable family who have moved into their house. The pair hire a malicious spirit in Beetlejuice to drive them out. Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara starred in the film that grossed more than $75 million at the global box office.

Warner Bros. set the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in theaters on September 6, 2024.
