Next April, 20th Century Studios will release a new installment of the horror franchise in theaters The Omena prequel titled The First Omenfrom the director and co-writer Arkasha Stevenson (Channel Zero, Legion).

That is why, with release date set in theaters for April 5, 2024the studio continues the marketing campaign by presenting the audience with a new official poster of the project that it promotes as “the scariest movie of the year.”

Meanwhile, we tell you that the psychological thriller, titled in our market as The first prophecystars Nell Tiger Free (Servant), Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Northman), y Bill Nighy (Living).

SYNOPSIS:

“A young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, but she encounters a darkness that makes her question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.”

The premise lets us know that the circumstances of Damien's birth will change for the prequel. Now, Damien will be born thanks to an elaborate conspiracy within the Church in Rome, and although he is indeed the son of Satan, his mother will not be a jackal, as in the original film. The Omen (1976). This new installment will perform an inverted version of the Immaculate Conception, with a nun being impregnated by Satan and giving birth to Damien.

Stevenson directs the script co-written with Tim Smith y Keith Thomas (Firestarter), from a story by Ben Jacoby (Bleed), and characters created by David Seltzer (The Omen).

The prequel has already received the classification from the Motion Picture Association (MPA) who gave it a Rated R by:

“Violent content, creepy/disturbing images and brief graphic nudity.”

The original 1976 classic follows the United States ambassador who believes his five-year-old son is the antichrist. The film starred Gregory Peck, Lee Remick and Harvey Stephens. The direction was by Richard Donner, and the script by Seltzer.

This film gave way to three sequels, the last of which was released in 1978, and a reboot in 2006.

The producers of the prequel are David S. Goyer (Hellraiser) y Keith Levine (The Night House). Executive producers include Tim Smith, Whitney Brown and Gracie Wheelan.
