Prime video revealed the first official glances to your new series, Shoea mystery thriller that adapts the novels of Patricia Cornwell, which is starring the winner of the Oscar and Emmy, Nicole Kidman.
Liz Sarnoff (Barry) is the screenwriter and showrunner.
Kidman is the forensic doctor Kay Scarpetta, who returns to Virginia – already her former job – amid complex personal and professional relationships, including the one she maintains with her sister, Dorothy (played by the winner of the Oscar and the Emmy, Jamie Lee Curtis).
Other cast members include Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) like Lucy Farinelli-Watson Dorothy's daughter, Cannavale Bobby (Boardwalk Empire) as the old detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker (The Mentalist) as the FBI profiler, Benton Wesley, Rosy McEwen (The Alienist) like a young Kay, and Jake cannavale – The son of Bobby Cannavale– as a young Pete Marino.
In recurring roles we will see Bacon sauce (Smile, Mare of Easttown) as the reporter Abby Turnball, Janet Montgomery (New Amsterdam) Like Janet, Lucy's wife, Stephanie Faracy (Nobody Wants This) as the Kay assistant, Mike Vogel (Under the Dome) as lawyer Bill Boltz, and Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist) as a young Dorothy.
The character of Scarpetta, created by Cornwell, was first presented in the novel Postmortem 1990 and has appeared in almost 30 novels since then; The most recent, Identity Unknownpublished in autumn of 2024, with Sharp Force planned for its launch in October this year.
Kidman and Curtis are the executive producers of the series, along with Cornwell, Sarnoff, Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, Chris McCumber, Per Saari, David Gordon Green, and Amy Sayres.
Comet Pictures de Curtis assured the rights to adapt the novels about Kay Scarpetta in 2021.
Prime Video renewed Scarpetta to a second season even before premiere the first season, which, incidentally, does not yet announce its release date at the streamer.
The filming took place last October in Nashville, and concluded in March this year.
