Originally intended as a one-season limited series, Big Little Lies became a huge success for HBO upon its premiere in 2017, winning the applause of critics, the audience, and the industry, who recognized it with multiple awards at the main TV ceremonies.
Its great cast, made up of Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, y Zoë Kravitzreturned for a second season in the summer of 2019, which again earned everyone’s recognition.
Since then, there has been much speculation about a third season. The death of the series’ director and producer, Jean-Marc Vallée, in December 2021, seemed to mark the end of speculation.
However, the river seems to have found its channel, and the acclaimed and multi-award-winning series would be returning for a third season.
In recent days, a Q&A session was held at an event hosted by the LPGA during the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Florida, the star and executive producer of Big Little LiesKidman, casually announced that a third season will take place (via E! Online):
“I loved Big Little Lies because it came out at a time in my life when I had my kids and thought I was going to retire. And then this situation arose where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that series and create that series. And then you all saw it and made it a huge hit.”
“And we will bring you a third [temporada]only for your information”.
Details of the possible plot for season 3, the talent that could be joining the cast, who would be its new director, or when its production could begin, are not known at the moment.
