Annapurna Pictures y Searchlight Pictures are working on the development of the horror and comedy project entitled Nightbitchwhich has Amy Adams (Arrival, Nocturnal Animals), in a leading role and as its producer.

The most recent news confirms via Deadline that the studios have made a new signing, in the case of Mary Holland (Happiest Season). Holland joins the aforementioned Adams, and the previously announced Scoot McNairy (C’mon, C’mon, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Narcos: México) as a co-star playing Adams’ husband. Holland’s role has not been detailed by the source.

Nightbitch will be led by Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Can You Ever Forgive Me?), hyphenated by Rachel Yoderthe author of the acclaimed novel on which the feature film is based.

“Nightbitch tells the story of a woman thrown into the rut of staying home to raise a young child in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the wild power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the strange and undeniable signs that it may be turning into a canine.”

Bond Group and Annapurna acquired the rights to the film adaptation of Yoder’s novel in 2020, and have since developed the script with Heller. The project “marks a resurgence of Megan Ellison’s reconfiguration of Annapurna, on the market.”

Being Searchlight Pictures a film company acquired by Disney, Nightbitch will be released on the company’s platform in the United States: Hulu, as a Hulu Original production. It remains to be seen if in the international market it will have a traditional showing in cinemas, or if it will be released directly on Star+. Release plans will be announced later.
