The mystery novel 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard will become a television series with a house in Prime Videowhere it will be titled Obsession. The streamer launched the adaptation of the literary material by giving the order to turn it into a series, being produced by James Wan and his company Atomic Monster, and Amazon MGM Studios.

According to reports from Deadline, the series based on the bestseller is “a mix of police story and erotic and psychological thriller,” which will feature Lisa Zwerling (The Rook, ER), y Karyn Usher (The Rook, Prison Break) as executive producers.

The history:

“It follows Oliver and Ciara, who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall quickly and dangerously in love. Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver's apartment and find an unidentified body, brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. He killed her? She killed him? The series is sandwiched between an intense day in the current investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers' adventure in the past.

Deadline clarifies, “While the novel is set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, with Ciara and Oliver meeting at the beginning and living together during lockdown, the series will not be.”

Zwerling and Usher are executive producers of Obsession alongside Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett through Atomic Monster, with Danielle Bozzone overseeing the series for the company. The book's author, Howard, will serve as co-executive producer.

Wan said of the project:
