Oven pasta, also known as oven pasta, is a delicious pasta recipe that is pre-cooked, combined with sauce and other ingredients, assembled on a platter, and baked in the oven until golden and bubbly.

Ingredients

  • 500g of pasta (can be penne, fusilli, rigatoni, or any other of your choice)

  • 500g ready-made tomato sauce (or homemade sauce)

  • 250g grated mozzarella cheese

  • 100g grated parmesan cheese

  • 200g diced ham or turkey breast (optional)

  • 200g diced cheese (optional)

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • Olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Oregano (optional)

  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Cook the pasta in salted water following the instructions on the package, but leave it a little al dente as it will continue to cook in the oven.
  • While the pasta is cooking, heat a pan with olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
  • Add the tomato sauce to the pan and season with salt, pepper and oregano, if you prefer.
Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes.
  • Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the pan with the sauce, mixing well so that all the ingredients are combined.
  • If you want, add the ham or turkey breast cubes and the cheese to the mixture, mixing them together with the macaroni.
  • Transfer half of the pasta mixture to a large platter lightly greased with olive oil.
Top with half the mozzarella cheese and a little Parmesan cheese.
  • Spoon the other half of the macaroni mixture over the cheese, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and more Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Place the platter in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve while still warm.
