In August 2024, 20th Century Studios will release a new installment of the science fiction saga in theaters, Alienwhich was filmed under the title Alien: Romulusby the Uruguayan filmmaker, Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead), which is currently in the post-production stage.

The project is described as “an original independent feature film”, which is expected to include the appearance of the Xenomorph aliens. The film will be a reboot of the science fiction and horror franchise.

The cast is headed by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, The Craft: Legacy, Mare of Easttown, Devs), and it is the protagonist herself who shares a new unpublished detail of the plot of Alien: Romuluswhich allows us to get a better idea of ​​the franchise's timeline (via Variety):

The sequel, Aliens by Cameron, released in 1986, picked up the plot years later, while Ripley accompanied a military mission investigating a possible Xenomorph attack on a remote space colony.

Spaeny is joined in the cast Isabela Merced (Instant Family, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Sweet Girl), David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearny Aileen Wu.

Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 16, 2024 via 20th Century Studios. This will be the first installment of the saga Alien to be distributed by Disney.
