This week the pre-sale of SAW in the United States, and with it came new information about the project that marks the tenth film in the horror franchise SAW of Lionsgate y Twisted Pictures which will present the origin of the sinister game.
Before moving on to the statements of the creative team, we tell you that the most recent installment is a prequel to the original film that leads us to discover the true reasons that triggered John Kramer’s creation of the fear game. The plot, which is set between the events of Saw I and Saw II, takes a sick and desperate John to Mexico, where he will undergo an experimental medical procedure in the hopes of finding a cure for his cancer.
With that context in mind, the producer Oren Koules comments (via Bloody Disgusting):

Tobin Bell makes his return as John Kramer, and Shawnee Smith hers as Amanda Young, Kramer’s victim in the original 2004 film, who was later revealed to be an apprentice of the killer, known for forcing captives to play deadly games, before meeting her end in Saw III.
“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back, and it’s the untold chapter of the final Jigsaw games. Set between the events of Saw I and II, John, sick and desperate, travels to Mexico to undergo a risky and experimental medical procedure in the hope of a miraculous cure for his cancer., only to discover that the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous serial killer is back at it, turning the tables on con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.”
Greutert dirige SAW X from the script of Peter Goldfinger y Josh Stolberg. The director took charge of the aftermath SAW VI (2009) y Saw: The Final Chapter (2010), and was editor of SAW a SAW Vy Jigsaw. Mark Burg y Oren Koules They are the producers.

The next installment of SAW Although it was launched in April 2021, it was not until the release of the ninth film, Spiral: From the Book of Saw in May of the same year, that the studios prioritized a tenth film, after the good reception of the spinoff that brought new life to the franchise. The spinoff is not part of the timeline of the original saga.
SAW revolves around serial killer John Kramer, also known as Jigsaw Killer or Jigsaw. It traps victims in elaborate situations and traps that will test their will to live.
The first film debuted in 2004, and marked James Wan’s debut as a feature film director. The success was such that it gave rise to seven sequels, the most recent of which, Jigsawdebuted in 2017, and the aforementioned ninth chapter, the spinoff Spiral. The global box office of the entire franchise exceeds $1 billion, while the combined budget of all of them reaches $97 million. An immense commercial success.
Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures to release SAW X in theaters September 29, 2023. In Mexico, the film will be distributed by Corazón Films.
