The acclaimed original production of HBO y Mike Whiteannounced seven new cast members for the next season: Leslie Bibb (Iron Man, Jupiter’s Legacy), Dom Hetrakul (The Outrage), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The Death of Stalin), Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Parker Posey (The Staircase), Tayme Thapthimthong (Farang), y Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age, The Leftovers) via Variety.
The new additions to the cast add to Natasha Rothwellwho reprises her season one role as Belinda Lindsey for season 3, as announced in April 2023. We met Belinda as the manager of the resort's spa in Hawaii, where she formed a friendship with guest, Tanya McQuoid ( Jennifer Coolidge), who in turn promised to make a significant investment so that Belinda could open her own spa center.
Her performance earned her a 2022 Emmy nomination for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series, a category in which the series only competed during its first season, moving to the drama series category for the second season.
Rothwell said he had read the T3 scripts, in an interview with Vanity Fair:
“I gasped out loud a minimum of five times and it was just me reading them. The scripts are a testament to Mike's ability to tell the smartest and most entertaining stories. I mean, everything he does is like a lesson for me as an actor and performer. And as a writer, he takes people on a journey. Everyone needs to buckle up because this is going to get real!”
White is the creator, screenwriter and director of The White Lotus. He is also the executive producer along with David Bernad and Mark Kamine. White wrote and directed the entire second season.
The third season will be set in Thailand. Filming will begin in Ko Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok in February 2024. For this new season, HBO has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support filming and promotion.
The exact details of the plot remain a secret at some White Lotus resort.
ABOUT THE WHITE LOTUS
The first season (premiering in July 2021) followed a group of privileged guests who annoy the luxury resort's manager and spa manager while dealing with a series of personal issues (filming took place at the Four Seasons Resort Maui of Wailea). The second season was filmed in Italy. Both seasons were filmed in Four Seasons hotels, so it should not surprise us that it will later be announced that the third season will be filmed in this luxurious resort in Thailand. The Four Seasons Thailand is located in Bangkok, Chian Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle (city, countryside, jungle and beach).
The first season earned 20 Emmy Award nominations and 10 wins. The second season was nominated for 23 Emmys.
