The survival drama, Yellowjackets of Showtimeis in the preparations for season 3, which was renewed even before the broadcast of its second season.

The creative process for the third season began before the writers' strike came into force, a work that eventually had to be suspended and resumed last October, once said union strike concluded successfully.

The co-creators, co-showrunners, co-executive producers, Ashley Lyle y Bart Nickersonand screenwriter and executive producer Jonathan Liscoshared the latest news about the next season (via Variety):

“We are immersed in writing,” Lyle said. After the strike ended, “everyone came back incredibly excited, raring to go, and creatively revitalized.” Without revealing any plot details, he said: “We are having a lot of fun and we are very excited about it.”

Yellowjackets is both a survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age dramawhich portrays the consequences that a group of former soccer players deal with, 25 years after surviving a chilling incident in their adolescence: a plane crash that falls deep into the remote wilderness of the northern United States.

The first season of the acclaimed Emmy-winning series takes us between the past and the present, and goes episode by episode, delving into the history and consequences of the harsh winter experienced by the teenagers, in which they had to resort to cannibalistic horrors to survive, as well as the havoc it causes in the adult lives of the small group of survivors.

The second season begins two months after Shauna ignored Jackie with serious consequences. Tensions have risen within the team as winter conditions intensify, leaving the girls making impossible decisions to survive.

Original adult cast members include Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci playing Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, and Misty, respectively. In their teenage versions they are played in the same order by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, and Samantha Hanratty.

It was not revealed when filming for season 3 will begin.

In Mexico and the rest of the Latin American marketis issued through Paramount Plusand starting December 15 it will also be available for Netflix.
