Below is a simple recipe for preparing rain cookies:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of wheat flour

  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

  • 1 tablespoon powdered yeast

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup of milk

  • Frying oil

  • Sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix the wheat flour, sugar, baking powder and pinch of salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk, mixing well.
  • Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
  • Heat oil in a pan deep enough to fry the dumplings.
  • With the hot oil, use two spoons to pick up small pieces of dough and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  • Fry the dumplings until golden brown on all sides.
  • Remove the fried dumplings with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate with absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  • If desired, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the still warm muffins.
  • Serve the rain cookies plain and enjoy them while they are warm and delicious!
