Warner Bros. revealed the first teaser trailer of Clayfaceanother installment of this year's renewed DC Universe.

With a theatrical release set for October 23, the studio shares the preview that does not seem to want to limit itself to horror, after all, it is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake, Speak No Evil), and script written by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) y Hossein Amini (Drive).

Clayface is starring Tom Rhys Harries (The Gentlemen), Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale), Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice), Eddie Marshall (Heartstopper), y Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers).

The plot follows actor Matt Hagen, who injects himself with a substance to stay relevant, only to discover that it can reshape his face and shape, turning him into a walking lump of clay. He is based on the supervillain who debuted in 1940's Detective Comics #440.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Clayface” chronicles one man's horrific descent from a rising star in Hollywood to a monster thirsting for revenge, in a story that explores the loss of identity and humanity, corrosive love and the dark side of scientific ambition.

The plot is set prior to the events of Superman (2025), Gunn recently confirmed.

The feature film has been described as a film with “references and structure” to David Cronenberg's classic body horror, The Fly (1986)while DC's James Gunn had already anticipated that the film, Rated Res a “full-blown horror movie”“.

And from what we see in the teaser, we choose to believe him.

This is, by the way, the first horror film from DC Studios.

The producers are Matt Reeves, James Gunn, Peter Safran and Lynn Harris. Executive producers are Mike Flanagan, Rafi Crohn, Chantal Nong Vo, Paul Ritchie, Michael E. Uslan, and Lars P. Winther.

WB premieres Clayface in theaters October 23, 2026.
