This same week and in the midst of total uncertainty due to the strikes by the Writers Guild (WGA) and the Actors Guild (SAG), Disney held the premiere of Haunted Mansionwithout being able to count on the cast of the same, since one of the rules of the SAG strike is that the members of the union cannot promote their projects either in person or digitally.
Right now we are one week away from the theatrical release of the film adaptation based on the iconic attraction The haunted mansionlocated in New Orleans Square in Disney de Anaheim, California.
And it is precisely to Disneyland where three members of the cast moved: Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Everything Everywhere All at Once), LaKeith Stanfieldy Owen Wilson (The Wedding Crashers). The visit, which was pre-recorded to be used as part of the live-action promotion, takes the three actors to the world’s most famous park, and they enter the haunted mansion dressed as their characters, while welcoming visitors of the day who were lucky enough to be greeted by movie stars during the Disneyland tour.

The rest of the cast is made up of Rosario Dawson (Clerks III, Sin City), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Danny DeVito (Jumanji: The Next Level), Jared Leto (Morbius), Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Dan Levi (Schitt’s Creek), y Hasan Minhaj (The Morning Show).
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
“A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, psychic, priest, and historian to exorcise her newly purchased mansion; after discovering that she is inhabited by ghosts.”
In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into an oddly affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the help of a widowed scientist turned failed paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish) and a cantankerous historian (DeVito).
The Motion Pictures Association (MPA), the body responsible for granting age ratings to all movies in the United States, has hung Haunted Mansion a great PG-13 by:
“Some thematic elements and terrifying action”.
The attraction launched in 1969 and is still open today at Disney parks. Haunted Mansion “takes theme park guests into a terrifying and spooky mansion that has a wide range of supernatural scares. It also features a wide cast of characters.” The most popular characters include Hatbox Ghost, Madame Leota, The Phantom, and Hitchhiking Ghosts.
The first adaptation to the big screen was released in 2003, directed by Rob Minkoff, and with Eddie Murphy in the leading role. In recent times, Guillermo del Toro was briefly on board for a new adaptation that never came to fruition.
The Haunted Mansion will hit theaters around the world on July 28, 2023.
