I discovered Marie and Lionel, the Limiñanas couple, when they launched his first and eponymous album in 2010if I remember through the mailing of Trouble in my mind, Chicago label that released the album in the world.
Since then, I have closely followed the duo’s career, their hundreds of releases and diverse partnerships, with people ranging from Peter Hook (yes, THAT Peter Hook) to Laurent Garnier (yes, THAT Laurent Garnier), from Etienne Daho to Our Despicable Favorite Anton Newcombealways bringing her delicious psychedelic-dark-French breeze to these collaborations.
Well, last year Lionel and Marie decided to present their fans with a huge compilation named Electrified (Best of 2009-2022), picking a total of 35 of their favorite songs and throwing it on a gorgeous orange triple vinyl (with lyrics by Iggy Pop, Peter Hook and Keith Streng of the Fleshtones) and – thanks, couple! – also on his Bandcamp. In the collection there are songs from the duo’s early days when they were still signed as Les Bellas to the aforementioned and other partnerships, including the classics “I’m dead” (their first single) and “Down underground”.
For those who don’t know the band or just check out the ‘hits’ here we have a faithful portrait of what Limiñanas is, which has always been a fuck-it for the music industry (and for the capitalist way of life, it’s good to point out) and so on continues, in a very particular wave, spreading its delicious psychedelic-dark-french breeze around the world.
Listen on the stalk!
