The modest marketing campaign for the live-action remake of Pinocchiowritten and directed by Robert Zemeckis for Disney and Disney+is about to come to an end.
With premiere set on the streamer for the September 8, 2022as part of Disney+ Day, the studio releases a promotional clip of the film starring the Oscar winner Tom Hanks.
In the clip we see Pinocchio talking to Jiminy the cricket, and as he tells lie after lie, we see how his nose grows and grows until there is no more space in the room. You can find the advance at the end of the note.
In the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, Hanks plays Geppetto, the puppeteer who wishes he had a child. Oscar nominee, Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, The Outsider), gives life to the Blue Fairy who grants Geppetto’s wish and turns the puppet Pinocchio into a real boy, to whom he lends his voice Benjamin Ean Ainsworth13-year-old actor. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) lends his voice to the animated narrator Jiminy Cricket, or as we know him in our country, Jiminy Cricket.
The cast is completed Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos, Goodfellas), Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast, Nine Perfect Strangers) y Keegan-Michael Key (Friends From College, Key and Peele).
With the first teaser released at the end of May 2022, we were able to notice a major change for the live-action film. Pinocchio: the Blue Fairy (Erivo) sings the famous ballad “When You Wish Upon a Star”a tune originally owned by Jiminy Cricket, now voiced by the Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award-winning Erivo.
The film is based on the 1883 Italian book by Carlo Collodi, and the 1940 Disney film, with the project in development since 2015.
Filmmaker Zemeckis directs from the script co-written with Simon Farnaby (Wonka) y Chris Weitz (Cinderella).
- Don’t confuse this live-action remake of Pinocchiowith the stop-motion project from Guillermo del Toro and Netflix, which will have its premiere on the streamer on December 9, 2022, and features Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, among many other stars, lending their voice.
- Zemeckis embraces the live-action side more in this Disney+ feature film than in other CGI projects by the filmmaker such as The Polar Expressy Christmas Carol.
Pinocchio de Zemeckis premieres on Disney+ on September 8, 2022.
