The fifth installment of MonsterVerse from Warner Bros. and Legendary, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empirehas warned the audience that “something is coming.”

On its official Instagram account, the film revealed a series of images that form a giant image, where the return of both creatures is glimpsed, accompanied by the slogan “Something is coming.” You can find the promo at the end of this note.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will be released in theaters April 12, 2024.

The movie was directed by Adam Wingardwho is back behind the lens after having directed the predecessor, Godzilla vs Kong (2021). Filming took place in Australia.

The cast features the return of Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry y Kaylee Hottlereprising the roles played in GvKand new members such as Dan Stevens (The Guest, Gaslit, The Rental), Speak Chen (Irma Vep, Shang-Chi) y Rachel House.

This will be a direct sequel to GvK. The climax of the latter suggests that there is a lot of material yet to be explored, such as seeing Kong in Hollow Earth.

“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence, and our own. The script was written by Simon Barrett (You’re Next, The Guest).

The MonsterVerse is made up of Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: The King of the Monsters (2019), y Godzilla vs Kong (2020). The MonsterVerse has proven to be a commercial success for studios. To date, his four films have accumulated a total of $1,946 million in the global box office. The series is currently broadcast on Apple TV+ Monarch: Legacy of Monsterswhich is part of the MonsterVerse timeline.
