Get ready.

The marketing campaign Warner Bros. for the tragicomedy Digger from the Mexican director Alejandro G. Iñárritu (The Revenant), continue with the debut of the first full trailerstarring Tom Cruise.

This is, by the way, the first time that Cruise is placed under the command of four-time Oscar winner, Iñárritu.

In addition to Cruise, the all-star cast includes Sandra Huller (Project Hail Mary, Anatomy of a Fall), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), Michael Stuhlbarg (Your Honor, Call Me By Your Name), Jesse Plemons (Bugonia), Rice Ahmed (Sound of Metal), y Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me).

The actor transforms into a character totally removed from his reality: an older oil magnate, with southern manners and a prominent belly, who could have unleashed a global ecological disaster. His name is Digger Rockwell. He is the only one who can solve what appears to be a rapidly melting iceberg crisis, and the President of the United States (Goodman) orders him to save the situation. From the trailer, it's clear that Goodman's POTUS represents a mix of Trump and Biden.

And remembering Iñárritu's words in a presentation last week at Warner Bros: “Ladies and gentlemen, get ready, because Mother Nature loves motherfuckers.”

The trailer is available at the end of the note. This is the trailer that was shown to attendees at CinemaCon last April.

The studio promotes the film as:

“A comedy of catastrophic proportions. Only in theaters in October 2026.”

SYNOPSIS:

“The tragicomedy follows the most powerful man in the world who causes a disaster and embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is the savior of humanity before the disaster he has unleashed destroys everything.”

Iñárritu directs the script who co-wrote the script with Sabrina Berman (El Traspatio, Between Pancho Villa and a naked woman), Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman, The Revenant), y Nicolás Giacobone (Birdman, The Revenant).

Digger was shot in VistaVision with a camera designed in 1954and for the production, González Iñárritu once again collaborated with Emmanuel Lubezkiare director of photography Oscar winner for The Revenant.

The film is produced by Iñárritu and Cruise, with backing from Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment.

The project is Iñárritu's first English-speaking project since The Revenant (2015). In January 2025, Cruise signed an agreement with WB to develop and produce feature films for cinema, this being the first project under said contract.

Digger opens in theaters and in IMAX on October 2, 2026.
