There is no doubt that one of the most pleasant surprises for horror cinema in the last decade emerged in 2014 with the release of Creepwhich in a way gave new life to found footage, a format that at that time had saturated the audience. Duplass played a killer who hired a cameraman, Aaron (played by Brice), to document his actions for a day as a ploy to lure him into a dark trap. The sequel used a similar formula, with Duplass' character taking a different name and hiring a different camerawoman.

The series will take fans through the killer's vault to reveal the stories of other filmmakers who fell for his bloody scheme.

The Creep Tapes:

“It is an episodic series that promises to introduce horror fans to a new collection of victims from the vault of the anonymous Duplass killer.”

“The Creep Tapes continues to unravel the mind of an isolated serial killer who lures videographers into his world with the promise of paid work documenting his life. Unfortunately, as the film progresses, the killer's questionable intentions come to light with his increasingly bizarre behavior and the victims will realize that they may have made a deadly mistake.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Explore a collection of videotapes of a serial killer who hires his victims under false pretenses to film him. Each episode introduces a new victim.”

Duplass tells about the franchise:

“A little over 10 years ago, Patrick Brice and I spent a week together at my cabin with a small digital camera. We came out with a found footage horror movie that was so wildly strange and uncomfortable that we assumed no one would watch it. “Continuing this profane legacy in series format is a true nightmare come true.”

Courtney Thomasma, executive vice president of streaming at AMC Networks, adds:

“Patrick and Mark have given us two of the most original and exciting takes on psychological horror with Creep and Creep 2, which amassed a huge following and an enthusiastic audience. “We are thrilled to work alongside them to expand this popular franchise with six exciting episodes that will reveal more of this twisted story and the antics of Peachfuzz.”

The Creep Tapes is produced by Duplass Brothers Productions and Shudder. Executive producers are Duplass, Brice, Mel Eslyn, Jay Duplass and Chris Donlon.
