How to survive the horror?
Prior to the participation of Zach Cregger in Hall H of the Comic-Con scheduled for this day, Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the reboot of Resident Evil by the director of Weapons y Barbarian.
This comes as the new film, from Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film in association with TriStar Pictures, prepares for its theatrical release on September 18.
This new version stars Austin Abrams (Weapons) as a medical courier named Bryan, who travels through a zombie-infested Raccoon City, with intense action and terror, after a package delivery involves him in a fast-paced race for survival on a fateful night filled with chaos around him.
As has already been said previously, Cregger's vision for this film is different as portrayed in the seven live-action films (the six starring Milla Jovovich, and the 2021 reboot), and the short-lived Netflix series.
Since Sony announced the reboot with Cregger as co-writer and director, the filmmaker has been firm in his decision not to directly adapt the stories of the video games, stating that His film “is a completely original story that takes place in the world of Resident Evil”.
This isn't to say that the film wasn't inspired by its source material. Cregger said that he took this project as “A chance to be loyal to video games in spirit and toneand build a story that puts you in that scenario, again and again, with increasingly higher stakes”.
Furthermore, as we see in the preview that we share at the end of the note, the protagonist must find weapons and ammunition in places similar to those in video gameswhile the well-known typewriter also makes a cameo.
Cregger wrote the script with Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Ballerina), based on an original story by Cregger.
In addition to Abrams, the cast includes Paul Walter Hauser (The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Zach Cherry (Severance), Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country), y Johnno Wilson (I Love That for You).
Cherry plays a scientist in a hospital, while Reis is an ex-military character.
