The studies Universal PicturesWarner Bros. Picturesand Amblin Entertainment have a new installment of the action-adventure thriller underway Twister (1996), with the film officially titled Twistersfrom the director Lee Isaac Chung (to the pain).

Previously, it was revealed that the new story is not a sequel nor does it plan to bring back old characters. The study describes it as a new chapter.

Previous reports had revealed that the project had plans to bring back Helen Huntwith a drama that focuses on the daughter she had with the character played by the late Bill Paxton. [La chica] “He’s caught the storm-chasing bug his parents had.”

The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Cradwdads Sing, Normal People), Powell, Anthony Ramos (Hamilton, A Star is Born, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), Brandon Perea (Nope), Daryl McCormack (Bad Sisters, Peaky Blinders), y Maura Tierney (The Affair, The Iron Claw, Your Honor).

Chung directs from the script by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), con Frank Marshall (Indiana Jones, Jurassic World, Bourne) as a producer.

Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell are supervising on behalf of Universal, and Ashley Jay Sandberg is supervising on behalf of Kennedy/Marshall. The new installment is co-financed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The original film directed by Jan de Bont, which was released in theaters twenty-six years ago, centered its plot on Bill and Jo Harding (Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt), advanced storm chasers on the brink of divorce who must come together to create a system advanced weather warning system by putting yourself in the crosshairs of extremely violent tornadoes.

The film, which was a huge box office hit with a global box office of $495 million, earned two Academy Award nominations, for Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. The script was written by Michael Crichton.

He theatrical release of Twisters was fixed for July 19, 2024. Distribution will be handled by Warner Bros. Pictures.
