Last October, it was revealed that Universal Pictures y Amblin Entertainment they find each other preparing a sequel action-adventure thriller Twister (1996), titled Twisters, twenty-six years after the original was released on the big screen.

After an extensive search that had several top directors hounding the job, sources told Deadline that Minari’s Oscar-nominated director Lee Isaac Chung is in early talks to direct Universal Pictures’ Twisters and by Amblin Entertainment.

The original film, directed by Jan de Bont, centered its plot on Bill and Jo Harding (Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt), advanced storm chasers on the verge of divorce who must come together to create an advanced weather warning system by putting themselves at the point of watch for extremely violent tornadoes.

The film, which was a huge box office hit, having grossed $495 million at the global box office, earned two Academy Award nominations, for Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. The script was written by Michael Crichton.
