White Sauce with Milk Cream

Ingredients
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of wheat flour
2 cups of milk
1 cup of cream
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Nutmeg to taste (optional)
Directions
- In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour to the melted butter, stirring constantly to form a roux.Â
Cook for about 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw taste of the flour. - Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.Â
Continue cooking over medium heat until the sauce begins to thicken. - When the sauce reaches the desired consistency, add the cream.Â
Stir well to incorporate. - Season the sauce with salt, black pepper and nutmeg to taste.Â
Nutmeg is optional, but it adds a special touch to the white sauce. - Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce is heated through and thickened.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Remove from heat and use the white sauce immediately on pasta, vegetables, fish or any dish of your choice.
