The film already has its protagonist signed, Christopher Abbott, who takes the lead role vacated by Ryan Gosling, an actor who was attached to the project for three years. Abbott can currently be enjoyed on tape Poor Thingsone of the candidates in the 2023-24 awards season.

Wolf Man will be directed by Leigh Whannellmarking a “monstrous” new collaboration with Blumhouse and Universal, following the acclaimed remake The Invisible Man (2020). This will be his fourth collaboration with Blumhouse, behind The Invisible Man, Upgrade (2018), e Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015).

Plot details are currently being kept under lock and key, but The mysterious story now focuses on a man whose family is being terrorized by a deadly predator.

The script was written by Whannell y Corbett Tuckas well as by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo (Dumb Money).

Jason Blum is producing the film, with Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell serving as executive producers. Blumhouse and Motel Movies are the production companies, with Universal as the distributor.

Universal Pictures set the theatrical release of Wolf Man for October 25, 2024.

Another of the monstrous projects in development at the studio is a film still without an official title, by Radio Silence (Scream 5, Scream 6, Ready Or Not), with Melissa Barrera as the protagonist.

Universal Pictures' monster universe kicked off after the studio scrapped the Dark Universe and its plans for an interconnected monster universe following the failure of the reboot's release. His most recent projects are the aforementioned film, Poor Thingsincluding the Apple TV+ miniseries, The Crowded Room.
