Warner Bros. marketing campaign for Joker: Madness for Two continues to prepare the audience for the big theatrical release of the sequel, set for October 4th.

The sequel features the return of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker, and the debut of Lady Gaga like Harley Quinn, who in this Joker-verse of Todd Phillipsto his incarnation of the popular character is known as Lee.

The latest is a featurette in which Gaga introduces LEE,

“I was able to see the original Joker before it was released, which was a very special experience. I had never seen a world created like this before.”

Phillips adds:

“She just fell into that world with ease. She’s not trying to be the Harley Quinn from the comics, she’s Lee in this world.”

Phoenix joins the conversation:

“He struck me as someone with no ego, and a fierce determination to fit in with us, and he understood that there had to be a kind of rawness to the character, and not many actors are comfortable working that way.”

Gaga concludes:

“It brought out all that rough, tough energy and how big these dreams were and how far they would fall.”

Phillips returns as co-writer and director. He co-wrote the script with Scott Silverhis coguionist in Joker (2019).

The sequel It will have musical elements and is set in Arkham Asylumwhich is where the first film ends after Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) was sent there. The acclaimed JOKER (2019) by Phillips, follows Arthur Fleck and his journey to become the clown of crime, serving as the origin story of the iconic villain, developing its plot in Gotham City in the 80s.

In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, the main cast includes Zazie Beetz reprising her role as Sophie Dumond, with the new additions of Catherine Keener (Get Out, The 40 Year Old Virgin), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, Harry Potter), Jacob Lofland (Mud), y Harry Lawtey (Industry).

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) awarded Joker 2 the R rating by:

“Some strong violence, constant language, some sexuality and brief total nudity.”

This is the same rating as the original film, Joker (2019), although for different reasons: “strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, brief sexual language and images.”

Joker: Madness for Two will be released in theaters on October 4, 2024.
