The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced this week that Helen Mirren has been chosen to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award in the Golden Globes 2026it was reported from the official site of the Golden Globes.

The organization's award is given for lifetime achievement and celebrates extraordinary and enduring contributions to the world of entertainment.

The award will be presented on Thursday, January 8, 2026, as part of the recently announced prime-time special Golden Eve (Golden Globes Eve), broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ in the United States, which will honor the Golden Globes' two annual honorary awards: the DeMille and the Carol Burnett Award for Lifetime Achievement in Television.

It has not yet been announced who will receive the Burnett Prize.

The Golden Globes eve special, Golden Eve, will feature carefully curated professional retrospectives, never-before-seen footage and in-depth conversations with honorees, and will be part of the first-ever “Golden Week” celebrating the awards.

This week will end with the 83rd edition of the Golden Globesscheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026 and presented for the second consecutive year by Nikki Glaser.

Golden Globe nominations will be announced on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Mirren is an actress with a long career, who has been nominated for the Oscar Award four times, winning for best actress in 2007 for her performance as Elizabeth II in The Queen.

She has also won the Emmy and the Tony, and has been nominated for 17 Golden Globes, winning three times.

His six-decade career includes films such as Caligula, Excalibur, White Nights, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Loverin addition to Gosford Park, Calendar Girls, Elizabeth I, Golda, RED, Raising Helen, The Debt, Hitchcock, Woman in Gold, Trumbo, Collateral Beautyand many more.

On television, she played the iconic Jane Tennison in Prime Suspectstarred in the Golden Globe-winning miniseries Losing Chase and is a member of the Dutton clan in the series 1923 of the universe of Yellowstone.

It was named Dame of the British Empire in 2003 and received the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.

Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, stated in a press release:

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature and her career is simply extraordinary. Her transcendent performances and dedication to her art continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences. It is a profound honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.”

The DeMille Award was first presented in 1952, and past winners include Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey. Last year's recipient was Viola Davis.
