Paramount+ announced the renovation from its original series, MobLandfor a third season.
Besides, the return of Tom Hardy in leading roleputting to bed rumors that emerged a few months ago, in which behind-the-scenes disagreements between Hardy, screenwriter Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser were brought to light. In that instance, it was said that Hardy had been fired from the series due to bad behavior on set.
And although it was later confirmed that there were tensions, the trio resolved their creative differences, according to Variety.
In the series directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie, Hardy plays Harry da Souza, the troubleshooter of an Irish crime family fighting for power within a global crime syndicate, headed by Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan y Helen Mirren.
“The plot shows two generations of gangsters, their businesses, the relationships they forge and the man they call to solve their problems.”
Ritchie combines the style of his other worlds such as Snatch, Wrath of Man y The Gentlemen.
Meanwhile, the second season premieres September 18 on Paramount+, with episodes releasing weekly.
In season two, the Harrigans “struggle to maintain a united front as emerging rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire. And Harry Da Souza—their formidable, cunning problem solver—must walk a tightrope as tensions within the family escalate.”
The cast also includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwany Emily Barber.
The first season of MobLandreleased in March 2025 on the streamer, established itself as the second most watched Paramount+ original series on the streamer, behind only Landman. According to data from the streamer, MobLand accumulates more than 26 million viewers around the world.
Ritchie directs and executive produces MobLandcon Ronan Bennett (The Day of the Jackal) as creator and screenwriter, and Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari, Spectre, The Agency) as another of the scriptwriters. The rest of the executive producers are Hardy, Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Ronan Bennet, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
MTV Entertainment Studios produces the series in association with 101 Studios, with Paramount serving as global distributor.
As a curious fact we share that MobLand It had initially been developed under the title The Donovanswith plans to function as a spinoff of the series Ray Donovan from Showtime. Those plans were scrapped and Ritchie's series was reconsidered as an independent project with no connections to the aforementioned.
