Ingredients
1 cup white rice
2 cups of water
4 cups of milk
1 can condensed milk (approximately 395g)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Cinnamon powder for sprinkling
Directions
- Wash the rice well under running water until the water runs clear.
This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky. - In a large pot, place the washed rice and the 2 cups of water.
Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender but still a little al dente. - Add the milk to the pan with the cooked rice.
Mix well and cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. - As the milk absorbs into the rice, keep adding more milk little by little.
Keep stirring regularly to ensure the rice cooks evenly and takes on a creamy consistency. - When the rice is well cooked and the mixture has a creamy texture, add the condensed milk and vanilla extract (if using).
Mix well to incorporate. - Continue cooking for a few more minutes, stirring constantly, until the rice pudding is very creamy and the flavors are combined.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the rice pudding rest for a few minutes before serving.
- When ready to serve, place the rice pudding in individual bowls or on a large plate.
Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top for flavor and decoration. - Sweet rice can be served hot, warm or cold, according to your preference.
