The future of the horror franchise The Texas Chainsaw Massacre It is more alive than ever.

After much speculation about the saga's future plans, Variety makes official that there is a new installment in development. And not only that.

A24 reached an agreement with Curry Barker to direct the next deliverypresented as a “reimagining” of Tobe Hooper's horror classicwhich gave rise to an iconic horror franchise.

The details of the reimagining of The Texas Chainsaw Massacreare kept secret for now.

It will be produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Stuart Manashil, Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, and Kim Henkel, the co-writer of the original 1974 installment.

After a close battle that occurred in 2025, A24 acquired the rights to the film franchise from Vervewho had owned them since 2017. Barker's film is one of two projects The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that are currently in developmentalong with a television series produced by Glen Powell under his Barnstorm label, with JT Mollner (Strange Darling), in charge of management.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre It launches four years after the premiere of the last installment, which premiered exclusively on Netflix in 2022; was directed by David Blue Garcia and starred Sarah Yarkin and Elsie Fisher, to negative reviews.

This will be Barker's fourth feature film as director. And by the way, the filmmaker is a couple of weeks away from releasing his second feature film in theaters, Obsessionby NEON, one of the horror proposals of the month of May.

Right now he works in Anything But Ghosts by Blumhouse, about paranormal investigators. Barker directs, co-writes and stars in this project. The filmmaker debuted in theaters with Milk & Serial (2024), made with a budget of $800 and released for free on YouTube.

The franchise currently consists of nine films, plus the recently announced one, for which a release date has not been announced.
