ON DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

The latest installment of the MCU, run by Raimi (trilogy Spider-Man 2002-07, Evil Dead), and is called by Marvel the first MCU production to be somewhat oriented towards horror films, and from the expert hand of Raimi, we are sure that it will not disappoint.

Raimi touches on that point in a new interview conducted by Fandango to mark the start of pre-sale:

“Doctor Strange in the comics has always dealt with some pretty creepy universes and dimensions, so we tried to bring some of that into this movie. It’s creepy at times and terrifying at others. There’s no telling what you’ll find in the multiverse. It is within that unknown that there is suspense and darkness. A tool to excite the fear of the audience”.

We already got a little taste of this vision, in the first teaser trailer released in late December 2021, and in the first full trailer released on Super Bowl LVI weekend, where we saw an evil version of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), which, to keep up with the Disney+ animated series What If? you will be familiar with it.

This dark version of Strange could have crossed over into the main MCU timeline to cause a lot of trouble. The “good version” of Strange will team up with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) to deal with the monsters and villains that the multiverse has let loose across the world, just as we saw in the events portrayed in WandaVision, Loki and more recently, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Some of these monsters include a pair based on the comic book villains Shuma-Gorath and Gargantos.

  • In case you missed it: To understand why Strange and Wanda will be working side by side in the sequel, you need to watch the series. WandaVision.
