Let’s go in order.

The White Lotus

The new series of Mike White, which tells the story of a few tourists at an exclusive five-star Hawaiian resort for a week, is the series that receives the most statuettes. It wins in fact well 10 Emmy, of which 5 for the main categories: “Best Miniseries”, “Best Director for a Miniseries”, “Best Screenplay for a Miniseries”, “Best Supporting Actress for a Miniseries” a Jennifer Coolidge, and “Best Supporting Actor for a Miniseries” a Murray Bartlett. What can I say, a success! Absolutely deserved thanks also to the choice of the heterogeneous cast, with well-known and lesser-known actors, perfectly fitting for those roles and the message it transmits.

For those wishing to catch up with the series, it is available on SKY and NOW TV.

Succession

Con 25 nomination agli Emmy Awards, Succession wins the most coveted title: “Best Drama Series” but not only. The beautiful series of Jesse Amstrongin fact, it also wins the prize for “Best Screenplay for a Drama Series “. Succession, in fact, is literally a success, (pardon the pun); just think that since its release in 2018 it has been nominated for best series every year, winning the category ai Satellite Award in 2019, ai Golden Globe in 2020 and to the same Emmy Awards nel 2021. A particular case is that of this series, as some strongly support the antipathy of the protagonists but the great beauty of the product itself, the result of inspiration from the life of Rupert Murdochtycoon and founder of the News Corporation.

For those wishing to catch up with the series, it is available on SKY and NOW TV.

Zendaya: Euphoria

The triumph also comes for the beloved Zendayawho is now the youngest actress – 26 – to win two Emmys as “Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Drama Series“. Without considering the victory in the same category E! People Choice Awards nel 2019. The series in question is Euphoriacandidate for the “Best Drama Series“In 2020 ai GLAAD Media Awardswhich from 16 June 2019 tells the life of the new generations in the most direct way possible, revealing the suffering and difficulties that teenagers have to face very often. Euphoria it’s a big slap in the face to anyone who still supports the simplicity of a teenager’s life.

Lee Jung-jae: Squid Game

Ben fourteen are the candidacies of Squid Gamewhich won six total statuettes including the “Best Director for a Drama Series “ a Hwang Dong-hyuk, “Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” on Oh Yeong-su and especially “Best Actor in a Drama Series” a Lee Jung-jae, victory that makes him the first actor to win the category acting in a foreign language. The success of Squid Game was inevitable considering the mass media surrounding the series, deserved to say the least, given the beauty of this gem and the social denunciation rooted in each episode, never forced or pretentious.

Let’s just hope the second season, arriving in 2024does not destroy the former, as happens in many cases.

For those wishing to catch up with the series, it is available on Netflix.

Ted Lasso

Also this year the award for the “Best Comedy Series” will Ted Lasso, celebrating with its protagonist Jason Sudeikis victory as “Best Actor for a Comedy Series ”. Victory for the second consecutive year was inevitable, being one of the most loved by audiences and critics. The beauty is that the series was born when Jason Sudeikis he conceived the character of Ted Lasso as an advertising testimonial for the Premier League, a bit like a joke. An American Football coach who is in charge of coaching a football team, to top it off of the highest level. It already makes you laugh so!

For those who want to catch up with the series and laugh a bit with Ted, it’s available on Apple TV +.

Among others also Amanda Seyfried receives the award as “Best Actress for a Miniseries” in “The Dropout” e Jennifer Coolidgeunforgettable mom of Stifler in American Piecome “Best Supporting Actress for a Miniseries ” (White Lotus).

The sore point of this edition of the Emmy Awards is the inexplicable defeat of “Better Call Saul”, which in the face of the initial seven nominations won no prize. A fact that obviously sparked the wrath of the fans, also because in six seasons, with a total of forty-six nominations, the fantastic spin-off / prequel of the beloved “Breaking Bad” he never managed to win any statuette.

It is precisely for this reason that Micheal McKean (Chuck interpreter in Better Call Saul), he expressed all his disappointment by sending everyone to that country.
