OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

“Evil Dead Burn unleashes the franchise's wildest and most terrifying adventure to date, bursting onto the big screen with a new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their isolated family home. As one by one they transform into Deadites—turning the gathering into a hellish family reunion—she discovers that the vows she made in life… endure even in death.”

Sam Raimi –creator of the saga– is on board as producer alongside franchise veteran Rob Tapert. Romel Adam, José Canas, and Lee Cronin are the executive producers with Bruce Campbell.

In recent days, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) awarded the film the Rated R by:

“Intense violence and gore, horror and strong language.”

Curiously, the original classification would have been a NC-17 ratingthe highest classification in the MPA system, which does not allow children under 17 years of age to enter movie theaters. Vaniček had to cut one “very harsh” scene in particular to avoid NC-17 and opt for R-rated.

The main difference between the classifications is that while an R classification can admit minors accompanied by an adult, the NC-17 strictly prohibits the entry of minors under 17 years of age, whether or not they are accompanied by an adult.

The filmmaker has already suggested that he is thinking about a future Director's Cut that will be much more brutal:

“The director's version will be much more violent than what we will see in the cinema.”

In addition to Evil Dead Burnthe saga Evil Dead He has another new film underway that was announced a few months later to Vaniček's project. This other one, titled Evil Dead Wrathis directed and written by Francis Gallupi, It is also produced by Raimi and Tapert's Ghost House Pictures. Its plot will be set in 1972, a decade before the events portrayed in Sam Raimi's original film.

The new direction for the franchise sees Raimi hand-selecting promising filmmakers to put his own spin on the Deadites, something that has proven successful with the most recent installments, the remake Evil Dead (2013) by Fede Álvarez, and then, Evil Dead Rise (2023) by Lee Cronin, which amassed more than $147 million at the global box office. After the success of the latter, the two new deliveries were launched.

The Evil Dead Raimi's original, was released in 1981, and focused on Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), a combatant of various supernatural entities. That film became a trilogy, and would later create the original Starz series, Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Evil Dead Burn comes to theaters on July 9 in Latin America and July 10 in the US and Canada.
