'Grown Ups 3' is officially underway on Netflix

The comedy franchise Grown Upsstarring Adam Sandlerreturns for a new adventure.

Netflix officially launched Grown Ups 3thirteen years after the release of the second installment. Kyle Newacheck (Happy Gilmore 2) will be the director (via Netflix Tudum).

The comedy saga best known in our region as They are like childrenreleased his first film in 2010, featuring Sandler and his group of friends, played by Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spadey Rob Schneiderwho reunited after not seeing each other in 30 years. The group decides to go on a getaway over the 4th of July weekend, accompanied by their wives, played by Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, Joyce Van Pattenand children.

The sequel They are like children 2 (2013), reunited old friends when Sandler's character returns to his hometown. The five face rivals old and new, including a huge deer.

It has not been detailed which cast members will reprise their roles.

A now-deleted tweet from the Discussing Film account said the plot “will follow the group and their respective partners as they travel to Europe to spread their close friend's ashes and prove that they can still be funny, even at 60.”

The Netflix Tudum report does not specify anything about the plot, so we cannot take the above synopsis as official.

The script of They are like children 3 will be written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy; they both co-wrote Grown Ups 2, Happy Gilmore 2y Hubie Halloweenamong others.

The producers are Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jack Giarraputo, and Helihy; with Kevin Grady and Judit Maull as executive producers.

The first two films were produced and distributed by Sony Pictures' Columbia Pictures. The combined global box office of the first two installments exceeds $515 million dollars.

It is highly probable that the long-standing association between Sandler and Netflix – with whom he has had an agreement for many years – and the fact that the IP is produced by Happy Madison – the actor's production company – have been a fundamental piece so that the rights could be acquired by the streaming platform and thus launch a third film.
