TWO WEEKS from the grand premiere of the anticipated prequel series of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragonwhat HBO y HBO Max scheduled to premiere August 21, 2022 in linear signal and the streamer, it is revealed a new featurette in which George R.R. Martin introduces the players who will be fighting for the Iron Throne in the series focused on the Targaryen dynasty.

In the 5-minute clip, which you can find at the bottom of the note, Martin shares the history of Westeros which is set after Aegon the Conqueror’s conquest, and 300 years before the events portrayed in the epic series, Game of Thrones.

Martin commented on the series:

The story of House of the Dragon it’s a story about very imperfect human beings, capable of doing good things, capable of monstrous things, capable of courage and capable of cowardice. These are the kind of characters I love the most.”

Jaehaerys Targaryen, the old king who was the fourth Targaryen to rule Westeros, was only fourteen years old when he ascended the throne and ruled for fifty-five years.. It was a very peaceful time in the history of Westeros. It was a time of prosperity and King’s Landing really grew tremendously. It’s been a beautiful moment.”

Making a comparison with GOT, the author explains:

Game of Thrones focused on Starks and Lannisters. For House of the Dragon, the Targeryens themselves are at the center. In terms of the history of Westeros, the Hightowers are the oldest. They have been there for thousands of years. Its seat of power is Old Town, which was for many thousands of years the largest city in Westeros. They are a very rich house, Old Town is rich mainly from trade. And in the center is the High Tower, from which the Hightowers take their name.”

“Lord Hightower is in Old Town from where he rules the city domains. But his younger brother Otto is the Hand of the King when the story begins, the same position in which we see Ned Stark playing with Robert at the beginning of Game of Thrones”.

“The plot set in Westeros, will unfold its events 300 years prior to the events portrayed in the acclaimed GoT series (before the fall of the Throne), and “will explore the beginning and end of House Targaryen.”

The main cast is made up of Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryens, Steve Toussaint como Lord Corlys (aka Sea Snake), Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Rhys Ifans como Otto Hightower.
