This summer in cinemas we will have the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverinethe third installment of the franchise Deadpoolcon Ryan Reynolds y Hugh Jackmanin the returns of both as their iconic mutant human characters, and with Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Free Guy) as director.
Deadpool returns to the big screen with a new installment, five years after the premiere of the sequel Deadpool 2and after Disney's massive acquisition of Fox in 2019. The film officially marks the arrival of Deadpool and Wolverine to the Marvel Studios MCU, in addition to being the first installment of the saga to be released by the Walt Disney Company, although this will not alter the Rated R characteristic of the franchise, according to its creatives.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Deadpool asks for Wolverine's help to save his world. Reluctantly, the mutants must join forces.
The marketing campaign continues with another new look at Reynolds and Jackman in full characterization, shared by the outlet EWwho was also given some words by Levy:
“Everything changed radically the day Hugh called Ryan. We had been working on a lot of ideas about possible stories for a third Deadpool movie. Those were story ideas that were more sequels to the first two Deadpools, but neither of them envisioned such a seismic shift. “I can safely say that the story completely changed and, in fact, came to us very, very quickly from that day on.”
“Everyone assumed that Hugh's return was the result of Ryan and I pestering him relentlessly. But even more miraculously, this was the result of an epiphany by Hugh Jackman. He wanted to make this Logan and Deadpool team-up, So it really was a gift from the heavens, a kind of phone call that changed everything.”

Levy directs the script co-written with Rhett Reese y Paul Wernick (Deadpool y Deadpool 2, Zombieland, Zombieland: Double Tap, Ghosted), Zeb Wells (Robot Chicken, SuperMansion), y Reynolds.
Previously, Levy revealed that included a tribute to the franchise Star Wars.
In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the sequel features the returns of Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Deadpool 2), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool, Deadpool 2), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool, Deadpool 2), Karan Soni (Deadpool, Deadpool 2), and the return of Jennifer Garner like Elektra, a character she played in Daredevil (2003) and last time in the 2005 solo spinoff. New additions include Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), Emma Corrin (The Crown), y Patrick Stewart (X-Men).
The first installment followed the antihero seeking revenge against Ajax (Ed Skrein), the man who turned him into a mutant and left him disfigured. The second film focused on Deadpool organizing the X-Force team to fight time-traveling soldier Cable (Josh Brolin). Both films broke records with their respective releases in 2016 and 2018, with opening box office receipts of $132.4 million and $186 million, respectively, something historic for an R-rated film.
