After debuting the first look at Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on stage at CinemaCon 2024 last week, the third installment of the franchise Sonic the Hedgehog from the study Paramount Pictures and the director Jeff Fowler continues to share news to the audience.

The most recent is the recently confirmed signing of Keanu Reeves (John Wick) lending his voice to the popular character Shadow, THR reported. The character debuted in the video game Sonic Adventure 2 from 2001, and is in many ways considered the anti-Sonic.

As revealed at CinemaCon, the sequel will see the return of Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), who is depressed and out of shape, until he creates Shadow.

Reeves joins Carrey's comebacks, Ben Schwartz lending his voice to Sonic, James Marsden like Tom Wachowski, Colleen O’Shaughnessey lending his voice to Tails, and Idris Elba a Knuckles. Con Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally y Lee Majdoub, Kristen Ritter (Jessica Jones), Alyla Browne (Angry), James Wolk (Watchmen), Sofia Pernas (Jane the Virgin), Cristo Fernandez (Ted Lasso), y Jorma Taccone (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) completing the distribution for the moment.

Sonic 3 has a script written by Pat Casey, Josh Millery John Whittington.

Sonic the Hedgehog has been a great commercial success for Paramount. The combined global box office of the first two films totals $870.8 million. It is not surprising then for a third film, and even a spinoff series focused on Knuckles which will be released on Paramount+ this year.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and Hitoshi Okuno produce the feature film.

In addition to starring in the action franchise John WickReeves reprized his iconic role as Neo in the sequel The Matrix: Resurrections (2021). Soon we will see him as a guardian angel in Good Fortuneand making a cameo as John Wick in the spinoff Ballerinastarring Ana de Armas.
