Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital prepares to fire another of its members, as Kelly McCreary has announced that season 19, currently airing, will be her final season on the long-running medical drama. Grey’s Anatomy from ABC.
McCreary has played Dr. Maggie Pierce, half-sister of Meredity Gray (Ellen Pompeo) for nine seasons. Its last episode will air on April 13, 2023 in the United States..
In an official statement to the media, the actress explains her decision (via THR):
“After nine seasons, I say goodbye to Maggie Pierce and her Gray Sloan family. It has been a tremendous honor to be a part of such a legendary television institution as Grey’s Anatomy.. I will forever be grateful to Shonda Rhimes, Krista Vernoff and ABC for the opportunity, and to the incredible fans for their passionate support.”

It has given me the opportunity to collaborate, learn from, and be inspired by countless brilliant artists, both in front of and behind the camera. Maggie Pearce debuted in season 10 of the series, as the daughter of Ellis Gray (Kate Burton) and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.). For season 11, the actress was integrated into a regular role.

In the most recent episodes of the current season, personal issues have been hinted at for Maggie, who functions as the head of cardiothoracic surgery at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, and her husband, Winston (Anthony Hill), a surgeon in the same specialty. from Maggie.
Much like Pompeo, who left the series in a regular role earlier this season and will return in an episode later this season, McCreary will return for a cameo before the end of season 19.
Krista Vernoffshowrunner and executive producer, will also be leaving her duties at the conclusion of the current season.
ABC has yet to order a season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy.
