Luby Sparks «Honey (live)» – since this year was somehow the year for Japanese music for me, in my opinion it is absolutely fitting to end the last “real” blog post for 2022 with a band from Japan as well. Luby Sparks are a DreamPop/Shoegaze quintet from Tokyo who have been active since 2016, but only recently caught my eye. They’ve already released a few albums – their last one, «Search + Destroy», is only a few months old (Japanese bands tend to give their songs English titles, by the way, but most of the time they sing in Japanese).
Iggy Pop «Strung Out Johnny» – Of course I don’t have to introduce this legend of punk anymore. Iggy will release a new album, «Every Loser», in 2023 and the current single suggests it will be a good one.
