Prime Video is preparing everything for the launch of the Amazon original series, Dead Ringersstarring the Oscar winner, Rachel Weisz in a double role, playing twins.
The actress is also an executive producer of the television project that is a reboot of David Cronenberg’s 1988 psychological thriller. The latest in the streamer’s marketing campaign is the debut of the official teaser trailer (at the end of the note) which, to the beat of “Heart of Glass”, gives us a brief glimpse of the mystery that is about to be revealed.
In the series:
Weisz plays the Mantle twins, “identical from head to toe, they are on a mission to change the way women give birth, starting in Manhattan.”
In the original film, the role was played by Jeremy Irons, who became involved with a movie actress seeking fertility treatments. For the series, he changed his role to be played by a woman.
The restart of Dead Ringers it was announced in 2020.
In addition to Weisz, the cast is made up of Britne Oldford (The Umbrella Academy) as Genevieve, Poppy Liu (Hacks) like Greta, Michael Chernus (Captain Phillips) like Tom, Jennifer Ahle (Saint Maud) as Rebecca, and Emily Meade (The Deuce) as Susan.
The series will consists of 6 episodes in totalcon Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Because of Evans (Gossip Girl), Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Yellowjackets), y Lauren Wolstein (Y: The Last Man) as directors.
Dead Ringers will premiere its 6 episodes on Prime Video on April 21, 2023.
Cronenberg’s original film was inspired by the lives of Stewart and Cyril Marcus, real-life gynecologist twins who worked together in New York until they both died at the same time in 1975. Dead Ringers now they’re putting a decidedly feminine spin on this mystery story, casting not only Weisz as the twins, but also Emmy-nominated, Alice Birch (Normal People), as creator, writer and executive producer of the show.
