The television project is the most recent adventure of Mike Flanagan in King's world, after adapting other King works such as Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep y The Life of Chuck. Right now he is working on the series adaptation of The Dark Toweralso with a house in Amazon,
Flanagan es the creator, screenwriter, showrunner, executive producer, in addition to director of some episodes of Carrie.
The Flanagan series reimagines the story of Carrie Whitea misfit high school student who has spent her life secluded and overprotected by her domineering mother. Following the sudden and untimely death of her father, Carrie finds herself dealing with the strange landscape of public high school, a bullying scandal that tears apart her community, and the rise of mysterious telekinetic powers.

Carrie was first adapted for the big screen in 1976, becoming a horror hit that led to other projects, including a sequel, and later a remake in 2013. This is the first time the novel has been adapted for television.
Flanagan and Trevor Macy are executive producers of the series, with Amazon MGM Studios producing. King is another of the executive producers.
The 8 episodes premiere simultaneously on October 7 on Prime Video.
